So He Peed on the Floor

Made it to the gym again. I've been tracking my exercise minutes on Sparkpeople. I go to the gym, then rush to work so I can add the minutes to my tally. Since I've been tracking them, I'm up to 300. Not too bad.

I've been nauseated since yesterday evening. I don't know why. I wish I could go home, but I can't. I've missed so much work already. Last evening, I just laid around. Caleb kept whining to go out. I didn't pay attention to him, so he peed on the kitchen floor. That's what I get for not listening to my pup.

I think I'm losing weight but I don't know for sure because I haven't been on the scale. I decided I don't care if I lose weight for now—I just want to get back on my feet. Even though I feel better than I have in a while, I still have days—not unlike the past two days—where I don't feel so good. So I'm not going to give myself "just one more thing" to worry about.

I Haven't Been Defeated

I'm going to the gym in the morning, despite the way I feel. I'm really disappointed that no one can seem to figure out what's wrong with me. I'm getting more frustrated as the days and months go by. I have been set back in my weight loss program by months.

I'm eating low fat, trying to exercise as much as possible, but still gaining weight and the pain in the right side isn't improving. It is also spreading across the stomach--but headquartered in my right side. By now, I think this is something serious. But all of my medical tests have been inconclusive. I'm awaiting the results of some blood and fecal tests now. I imagine they will show nothing as well.

Well, I gotta get up at 5 a.m. So I'm off to bed. I hope my medical issues don't discourage anyone from fighting the War Against Fat. I will get better soon, and I will be back in the shape I was six months ago. I figure as long as I write it down, I am making a commitment. And I have committed to exercising with a trainer at least two per week for the fall semester here at WVU. So I will be there in the morning.

P.S. Funny thing. Most of weight gain has been in my middle.

I Don't Want to Give Up

Despite the pneumonia diagnosis and a full course of antibiotics, I'm still having pain in my right side—under my ribs—most especially after a fatty meal. And I'm still having gastrointestinal problems that I won't go into, but are really annoying. I've had moments where I've been doubled up on the bed and had to jump up and run to the bathroom. Anyway, I think I have more going on than pneumonia.

I have my girls this weekend. They want to go to the zoo. Sounds like fun to me—as long as I don't eat any fat. Who knows? Maybe this is a good thing, and I can get over my compulsive overeating just by being sick. I haven't lost any weight with this though. In fact, I'm swollen.

Been going to the gym twice a week up to this point. I want to get back to five days a week next week. I'll have two different personal trainers for the next two weeks and then summer school ends, so I won't have a trainer under the fall semester begins. But that'll be OK. At least I'll be more in the habit of getting up to go the gym. So I'll be on my own for a month.

I just want to be healthy. I don't want to be one of those old women who just gives up.

Sick of Snow And Sick

I have been sick since last Wednesday. This virus really hangs on. I haven't been to the gym since last week. My diet has fallen apart and I gained four pounds since I first got sick. I think it's because I'm lying around—not really doing anything and, of course, eating too much. I feel very bloated and crappy, almost hung over.

The weather here remains crappy as well. This morning a surprise snow storm brought traffic to a halt—getting to work took more than an hour. It's usually a fifteen-minute drive.

But I have something I'm working on that's bringing me some pleasure. I'll let you know what if the time is ever right.

I need to get back to work.

All Good Plans Get Sidetracked

I made it to the gym yesterday morning and the day seemed to be starting out well. But by 10 a.m. my stomach was cramping--bad. I was home in bed by noon. Even after I slept for a couple of hours, my stomach was still cramping. Then I got nauseated. I hadn't eaten anything, so I didn't have anything to throw up. I had bad cramps on the left side of my abdomen that felt like I was being stabbed. Today I still feel light-headed and a little nauseated. So I'm staying home.

I feel like such a loser. I have been sick, in one way or another, for more than a month. My job sucks. I have too many things to do around my house with no money and little help. Into that i brought a new puppy that's still trying to get acclimated to a schedule. I am stressed all of the time. So I am sick all of the time.

I used to work for this guy a long time ago who said, "My mother always told me, 'Cheer up. It could be worse.' And you know what? It got worse." Cheery words, eh?

So I'm working on getting back into the swing of things. It will take a little longer than I planned. But when did anything I plan work out on the first try anyway?

20 Good Years

Finally, I made it back to the gym. I got in 45 minutes of cardio—20 minutes on the elliptical and 25 minutes on the treadmill. Ten of the treadmill minutes were walking backward. I read somewhere that walking backward is not only good for because it uses a different set of muscles, but it actually burns more calories. Let's hope that's true.

Yesterday's calories were about 900. I just don't feel like eating. Too bad it's not showing up on the scale.

I still feel a little icky, and I'd really like to get well once and for all.

Mostly I laid around over the weekend because I ended up with vertigo. I took some Mucinex and my ears started draining. That is the weirdest feeling. But it's taking away the vertigo. Vertigo is the worst feeling for me. If I died and were doomed to Hell for my bad deeds, my punishment would probably be suffering through all eternity with vertigo.

I want to learn how to play the piano. A friend of mine is helping me. I figure I've probably only got 20 good years, so I should make of the best of them. I'll let you know how that goes.

Gotta Get Back to It

I'm still doing OK with the eating—but it's the exercise that I'm not getting. For one thing, I'm still sick and the thought of going to gym right now is more than I can bear. But I have to get back to it or I will undo all I've done. I haven't walked the boys in a while either. In fact Halloween was the last day I got any exercise. I got a lot of exercise that day, but I don't think it stores up.

Caleb is growing fast. I think he's going to be a big dog. He's rotten, too. But I love him.

I don't have a lot to talk about today. I need to rejoin life so I'll have something to say.

This Is a Fine Turn of Events

I spoke too soon yesterday. I ended up getting really sick. I had to make a lot of copies, so of course, the copy machine got hot and jammed. Then I was hanging upside down trying to get all of the jams unjammed and got dizzy. Then I got sick. What a day it turned out to be. I hate that feeling, and it's kind of hanging on today. Never again.

My workout this morning was somewhat abbreviated because I really didn't feel so good. That's what I get for thinking I was finally turning around. In some ways I'm like George Constanza—God will never let me just be OK. Also, I finally rolled out of bed later than I have in a long time. I did not get up until almost 6 a.m. I was still a little woozy from my episode yesterday.

So I was hoping that I would be doing OK today. Maybe tomorrow.

Here's to a New Day

I'm making a resolution to become more positive—one day at a time. So, just for today, I will have a positive attitude. I'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.

I did the workout thing this morning—got through it without much pain. I think I'm finally getting better.

I haven't been talking a lot lately. And I've been kind of in a social isolation. Being sick will do that to you. So I'm trying to break out of that, too.

OK. I still don't have much to say. I'm hoping that will change as time goes on.
